This is the story of The Brass Tap in Cross Roads, Texas, and how we packed their trivia night.

The Problem
The Brass Tap found that most trivia companies don't know how to advertise properly, which led to small crowds. After trying both national and local trivia companies, they decided to try Not Rocket Science Trivia.
Social Media Promotion
Other Companies: Social Media Posts
Other companies said they were “marketing” by posting on social media. Here’s the problem: Social media posts alone won't build a trivia following.

A study by Social Insider shows that business posts get an average engagement rate of just 0.15%. So, if a trivia company’s post gets that little attention, how many people near the bar will see it? And how many will actually come to trivia? The Brass Tap found out that social media posts didn’t bring a crowd.
Not Rocket Science: Paid Social Media Ads
We ran targeted, paid ads to people near The Brass Tap who were interested in trivia. Our ads reached over 20,000 people in two weeks.
The ads collected people’s emails and used them to send reminders about their game.

Trivia Following
Other Companies: Fake "Following"
Other companies made exaggerated claims about their "following" but no crowd ever came. They had no way of communicating with their players to turn them into regulars for the bar.
Not Rocket Science: A Real Following
We built a real email list for The Brass Tap with the social media ads. We've kept building the list by gathering emails from players every week. We email free clues for the trivia game to keep them coming back every week.

Marketing
Other Companies: Lazy Marketing
Other companies gave The Brass Tap posters or even made them print their own. After that, they relied on social media posts (See Social Media Promotion). That was all of their "marketing."
Not Rocket Science: Extra Marketing
Beyond the social media ads and email campaigns, we ALSO provided real marketing, including Eventbrite pages, Facebook events, custom posters, and custom table tents with The Brass Tap's logo.

Results
On their first trivia night, the general manager said it was the biggest crowd they'd seen on a Thursday in a long time. The next week, the crowd doubled. Now, we host 13 weekly trivia games at Brass Tap locations, thanks to referrals.
